# Elys Network Governors

**Governor General Information**

Governors are responsible for voting on governance proposals. Users who delegate (stake) their ELYS tokens with a governor can increase the voting power of a governor. The governor votes on behalf of the users who delegate to that governor, unless the user elects to vote individually from their wallet. The voting options for an on-chain governance proposal are:

* Yes
* No
* No with Veto
* Abstain

**Governor Expectations**

* As a crucial member of the governance and decentralized structure of Elys Network, governors are expected to maintain an active role in the community by engaging with their stakers and community members, and participate in all on-chain governance.
* Governors are not required to operate a node in order to vote. However, governors who seek to earn or maintain foundation delegations should consider providing network support, as mentioned in the [Governor Foundation Delegation Program](/docs/governance/governor-foundation-delegation-program.md) criteria
* Join the Elys Network [<mark style="color:blue;">socials</mark>](/docs/social-links/elys-network-socials.md) to receive up-to-date information on governance

**Active Governor Set**

* Currently up to 100 active governors (can be changed by governance)
* ELYS Tokens to stake to be active = more than last active governor
* Tokens may be self-delegated or from external wallets within the community. The minimum self-delegation is 1 ELYS

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://elys-network.gitbook.io/docs/governance/elys-network-governors.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
